摘要

Dear Editor, Ge et al. (2013) have presented an interesting and useful study describing the turbulent velocity field in an agitated system with a modified pitched blade turbine (PBT) exhibiting higher a solidity ratio than standard PBTs. They used CFD simulation, and also confirmed the results of this procedure by means of PIV measurements. The aim of my contribution is to offer a critical analysis of the integral characteristics of the stirred system investigated by Ge et al. (2013), i.e. the impeller power number, the pumping number and the circulation number, to compare them with earlier published experimental data, and also to offer their theoretical interpretation.
