摘要

The review [6] by Sergei Petrovskii, Natalia Petrovskaya and Daniel Bearup provides a comprehensive description of pest insect monitoring methods at different scales of observation. Each scale has different interpretation in the monitoring problem and requires its own mathematical tools. In fact, the importance of scales has widely been recognized in ecology [2-4]. Hence, the authors' approach to the problem from the perspective of different scales is one the features that makes this review article so interesting.
