Measurement of a complete set of analyzing powers for deuteron elastic scattering from Ca-40 at 270 MeV and an investigation of tensor potentials

The differential cross section and the analyzing powers, A(y), A(yy), A(xx), and A(xz), have been measured for polarized deuteron elastic scattering from Ca-40 at 270 MeV. An optical model analysis reproduces the data with only central, spin-orbit, and T-R tensor terms, and shows the importance of effects arising from the imaginary parts of the potential, in particular for A(xx).
