Interaction of coherent light with the (m-1)th-order non-linear medium

We propose a new method for the derivation of the first-order perturbation theoretic operator solution (free from secular terms) of the generalized anharmonic oscillator. We apply the solution to study the possibilities of observing different non-linear and quantum optical phenomena observable in the (m - 1)th-order non-linear medium interacting with coherent light. In particular, we discuss the possibilities of observing higher harmonic generation, squeezing, bunching and anti-bunching of photons. We also report an exact analytic expression for the Aharonov-Anandan non-adiabatic geometric phase for the (m - I)th-order non-linear medium interacting with coherent light. These generalized expressions are then used to study some particular cases of physical interest. The quantum mechanical system in which an intense laser beam interacts with the third-order non-linear non-absorbing medium of inversion symmetry is studied with particular importance.
