摘要

BASF introduced a new generation of large tank containers which give substantial logistical benefits. In order to evaluate the safety of the new technology during rail transportation, a risk analysis regarding running stability and loss of cargo was performed by means of field trials accompanied by multibody simulations. The risk analysis contained a comparison between the new system and the longserved systems of tank wagons or small tank containers. In Addition, sloshing forces during operation were recorded, simulated and evaluated to show the ability to run the "BASF Class Tank Container" in partially-loaded state, which is still prohibited today. It was examined in this project, whether the adaptions on the new system of BASF compensate the higher demands triggered by the larger container size. Running stability was checked to show whether the new system is suitable for mainline operation and shunting at the hump yards.
