Putzmeister aids Japan's nuclear reactor efforts

PUTZMEISTER America has supplied pumps to help the effort at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan. Instead of pumping usual concrete, they are cooling the reactor with millions of gallons of water. Putzmeister said the concrete boom pumps - normally used to pour concrete for bridges and high-rise construction projects - are suited to the task due to their pin-point accuracy and reach, able to direct water over the destroyed buildings to the hotspots within the reactors.
