Insituform Technologies has been awarded a US$12.2 million contract by the city of Montreal, Canada, to rehabilitate the city's sewers, many of which are egg-shaped. The aim of the project is to help the city meet the goals of its ongoing programme of infrastructure improvements. Insituform expects to rehabilitate more than 14km of wastewater pipelines with diameters of 300-1,065mm. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2011. Forty years ago, Insituform undertook the UK's first installation of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) in an egg-shaped pipeline. Since then, it has installed CIPP in over 30,000km of pipeline around the world.
