Beaminster Tunnel soil nailing gets green light

Dorset County Council has confirmed it will use soil nails to stabilise the slopes at the portals of the Beaminster Tunnel in Dorset, UK. The move follows the death of two people who were buried in their car by a landslip last July. Around 1,000 nails, each 12m long, will be used for the job, which Dorset County Council approved after an engineer's report concluded that soil pinning would reduce the likelihood of future landslips.
