A company importing quality cigars from Nicaragua has been launched in Toronto, Canada. Former investment bank researcher Markus Raty has become President of Mom-bacho Cigars, which is backed by the president of independent beer-maker Steam Whistle Breweries Co - Cameron Heaps. Mombacho sells the cigars at CDN$385 (US$367) for a box of 24. The company was formed after Heaps visited Nicaragua where he met cigar-master Silvio Reyes, whose family has long produced quality cigars. Momba- cho's challenge has been to secure quality packaging and export arrangements, preventing cigars being spoiled in transit. After a long search, it has sourced packaging from a Spanish cedar box-maker from Esteli, in Nicaragua's main tobacco growing area, which has a close relationship with an efficient customs broker. Waiting for cigars and boxes went from weeks or "never arriving at all," to landing in Toronto overnight, Mr Raty told Canada's National Post newspaper.
