Changde Tobacco Machinery feels Windchill factor

PTC (The Product Development Company) has announced that it is to provide Changde Tobacco Machinery Co, Ltd, China's leading tobacco machinery manufacturer, with Windchill, its corporate standard for product data management. Windchill is PTC's content and process management solution. Changde Tobacco will adopt the solution to manage the product development process for its product line. To better support business growth and its product development needs, Changde Tobacco decided to evaluate its product life-cycle management (PLM) processes and supporting technology. Ultimately, Changde wanted to reduce product research and development (R&D) cycle time and minimize duplicate design while maintaining high product quality and innovative capabilities. The desired solution would also effectively manage product data generated from engineering and BOM, and accelerate the product availability on the market. In addition, Changde Tobacco needed a single system that would centrally manage many disparate IT systems (MCAD/CAPP/ERP) within the company, thus alleviating the data woes that have been plaguing its R&D and documentation. The solution was supposed to offer support to these disparate IT systems.
