EU launches anticounterfeiting organisation

EU: A European Observatory onrnCounterfeiting and Piracy, established to fight intellectual property criminals faking products such as cigarettes, has been launched in Brussels. The new European Union (EU) institution has been charged with collecting data and intelligence on goods counterfeits, raising awareness, circulating views and best practice in enforcing intellectual property rights between businesses and national law enforcement authorities. It will be based at the European Commission.
