The first WIPO Annual Symposium of Intellectual Property Aut-horities, Geneva, September 2009

摘要

The first WIPO Annual Symposium of Intellectual Property Authorities was held in Geneva at the enormous CICG Conference Centre on 17-18th September 2009. Around 250 people from patent offices worldwide and others with an interest in intellectual property listened as Francis Gurry, the Director General of WIPO, explained the aims of the Symposium in his opening remarks-to discuss the challenges facing the IP Offices and Industry on a global level and to seek solutions for all stakeholders. Solutions are needed which offer improvements not just for the IP Offices but also fit the needs of industry and wider society who use patents and patent information directly and are the indirect beneficiaries. The Symposium looks set to become an annual event giving a framework for WIPO to coordinate and develop the global IP infrastructure to improve speed, quality and efficiency for all.
