It is manufactured by Raytheon's Hughes Missile Systems (formerly General Dynamics; Raytheon formerly was the second-source). The US Army started accepting Stinger RMPs in 1988 and deployed them toward the end of 1989. The US Army had a requirement for 29,108 FIM-92C Stinger RMP, with the last procurement funding being provided in FY93.
