MIM-104 Patriot

Patriot is the US Army's primary medium- to long-range air defense missile system. The Patriot was first deployed in 1982, and first used in combat during Operation Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia in January 1991. Although developed primarily as an anti-aircraft system, Patriot has secondary anti-tactical missile capability; the system became famous in this "Scud-busting" role in the 1991 Gulf War.
