RIM-66/67/156/161 Standard

The Standard Missile family (RIM-66/67/156/161) are ship-based semi-active radar guided air defense missiles designed to provide area defense against aircraft and antiship missiles. The Standard missile family is the primary surface-to-air missile employed in the US Navy's Aegis, Terrier, and Tartar weapon systems, and it is also in use with ten foreign navies. Procurement began in FY67 and Hughes (formerly General Dynamics) delivered or had on order about 21,300 Standards; Raytheon had orders for about 2,800 through 1994. The US Navy ceased to support the SM-1 missile in September 2003 and withdrew it from service.
