The FGM-148 Javelin is the US Army/Marine Corps lightweight anti-armor missile which replaced the FGM-77 Dragon in the mid-1990s. Javelin is a one-man portable system, and the world's first true fire-and-forget anti-armor missile. A joint venture team of Texas Instruments (now Raytheon) and Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) was chosen to develop the missile, and the full-scale engineering development began in June 1989, and was completed in FY95.
