The AGM-65 Maverick is a family of air-to-surface missiles using alternate electro-optical, laser, and imaging infrared (IIR) homing. Maverick is in widespread use by the USAF, USN, USMC, and at least 27 other air forces. It was manufactured by Hughes Aircraft (now part of Raytheon) and second-source Raytheon. The AGM-65 is used against point targets, such as field fortifications, bunkers, tanks, armored personnel carriers, parked aircraft, radar or missile sites, and ships. The recent production versions are the IIR AGM-65D (USAF and export), the improved IIR AGM-65G, and the AGM-65F (USN).
