This report deals with Chinese tactical ballistic missiles that are being offered in the export market. The best known of these are the M-9 and M-11 missiles, but a third type, the M-7, also known as the 8610 or B610, has also been exported. The "M" designations for these missiles refer to their export variants, in Chinese service they receive the standard DF (Dong Feng = East Wind) designations, such as DF-15 for the M-9 missile. The illustration here shows the M-9 (Dong Feng DF-15) on its TEL. Pakistan test fired an M-11 version called the Shaheen in March 1999 and already has the type in service in small numbers. Pakistan has also displayed a 2,500 km range solid fuel missile called the Shaheen Ⅱ which may in fact be a license built copy of the Chinese M-18.
