More than 70 delegates attended the recent Leather in Retail conference, organised by the UK leather testing, training and consulting group, BLC, at the Leathersellers' Hall in London. Six presentations were made, five of which were given by experts from BLC, on subjects such as the Leather Working Group, a platform for retailers and brands to discuss environmental impact with tanners; the momentum building up behind the movement to make leather chrome VI-free; restricted substances in leather; animal welfare in consumer buyer patterns; and sourcing and manufacturing in Asia.
