Children's footwear brand Kavat is still producing shoes in Kumla, Sweden's traditional home of footwear manufacture, with the founder's granddaughters now heavily involved in leading the company. A focus on traditional methods and local materials is now opening up new markets all over northern Europe.rnFifty years ago, the Swedish city of Kumla was home to around 60 shoe factories; today, only two are left. One of these, Arbesko, specialises in protective footwear for the workwear market.
