Amendments to Bulgarian Law on Marks and Geographical Indications

Amendments to the Bulgarian Law on Marks and Geographical Indications (LMGI) have introduced the op position system and brought about major changes to the trademark registration process carried out by the Bulgarian Patent Office (BPO). The amendments, which came into force from March 10, 2011, regulate the examination procedure and define timeframes. The examinations are now more expe- ditiously performed by the BPO — within 2 months from the date of the payment of the application fee.
