Ukraine Seeks WTO Ruling on Australia Tobacco Plain Packaging Rules

Ukraine will request the establishment of a World Trade Organization dispute panel to rule whether Australia's tough new plain packaging requirements for cigarettes and other tobacco products violate global trade rules. Officials said Ukraine asked the WTO on August 14 to inscribe its request for the panel on the agenda for the next meeting of the WTO's Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) scheduled for August 31.
