Online advertising providers Google Inc, Microsoft Corp, Yahoo! Inc, and AOL Inc announced on July 15 that they have adopted best practices guidelines aimed at hitting infringers in the wallet though policies prohibiting pirate sites from participating in their advertising programs. The companies joined digital marketers 24/7 Media, internet advertising network Adtegrity.com, Conde Nast, and online video ad network SpotXchange Inc and the Interactive Advertising Bureau to adopt and maintain policies aimed at websites that are principally dedicated to selling counterfeit goods or engaging in copyright piracy and have no substantial non-infringing uses.
