The macadamia is Australia's native nut that is taking the world by storm. Its unique combination of subtle buttery flavor and velvety-soft crunch make it extra special but it also has a variety of nutritional benefits which give macadamias even more appeal for today's health conscious consumer. Although macadamias are now grown in other countries too, Australia is the world's leading producer, contributing over 30 percent of the global crop and exporting to around 40 countries. While the mac-adamia's rock-hard shell provides great protection for its precious cargo, it also presents a major production challenge - cracking the shell without damaging the kernel within. The Australian industry has invested millions in developing world-class processing technology and equipment to minimize wastage, preserve the kernel at every stage of the production process and deliver a premium product.
