Even though the Deepwater name is officially still alive and vessels envisioned in its plans are being built, the Coast Guard doesn't run the name up the flagpole anymore and expect anyone to salute.According to the Coast Guard's Acquisition Directorate website, "the directorate manages 22 major acquisition projects, of which 15 are from the old Deepwater program. Little, except the name, remains of the original Deepwater commercial integrated lead system integrator (LSI) concept."
