USCG TO BEGIN NEXT PHASE OF TOWING VESSEL BRIDGING PROGRAM

On July 1, the U.S. Coast Guard will officially begin phase two of the Towing Vessel Bridging Program (TVBP). In the new phase, the Coast Guard will institute non-voluntary, unscheduled boardings to check for a vessel's compliance with existing regulations. Boardings will be driven by a towing company's participation level during the first phase. Companies that have not participated in phase one are considered high priority. Phase one companies that have participated but have not had all of their vessels examined are deemed low priority.
