Derelict fishing boat removed after sinking in Washington state

In June, the Deep Sea, a derelict 140' commercial fishing vessel, was raised from Whidbey Island, Wash.'s Penn Cove after sinking on May 13 following a fire aboard the abandoned vessel. The fire and sinking released diesel fuel oil, which caused the state to close all shellfish harvesting from nearby Penn Cove Shellfish, the nation's largest mussel producer. The company's shellfish rafts were only about 100 yards from the sunken boat.
