The WorkBoat Composite Index lost 22 points in July, or 1.3%. For the month, losers topped winners by more than 5-1. Like June, the big losers again were operators. After losing over 7% last month, the Operators Index lost another 6% in July. The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index also got hammered, losing 10% for the second consecutive month. Most operators posted double-digit losses, including Hornbeck Offshore Services (HOS), which lost over 11 % of its value in July. Despite the soft energy market, Todd Hornbeck, the company's chairman, president and CEO, said HOS is in a good position to reap the rewards of an up cycle in the oil and gas industry.
