Superfine production increases

Production for the season up to the Easter break under 18.5 microns was 8.4% higher than for the same period in 2008/09, with a decline in the volume tested in March of 7.2% compared to March 2009. Production in Eastern States is similar to last season with most of the increased volume coming from Western Australia. Ultrafine production 15.5 microns and finer has decreased by 5%, while superfine production 15.6 to 18.5 microns has increased by 7.6%. Style characteristics, staple strength, VM, Yield and staple length have remained relatively constant throughout the season.
