The head of steam built up at Milano Unica (September 13-15) continued into Premiere Vision, held in Paris a week later (September 20-23). It was hard to find an exhibitor who did not feel that they had done good business putting forward their suggestions for autumn/winter 2012/13. In a clever move, Premiere Vision's organisers selected examples of excellence in ancient techniques and contemporary work for the Maison d'Exceptions, uniting craft, design and artistry. They had in common an astonishing attention to the far reaches of detail and real skill in the processes which the visitors watched. Thirteen textile pursuits included traditional Japanese weaving, hand-cut velvet, artisan silk spinning and weaving from Italy, and different methods of fabric finishing.
