Technical highlights

Several recent developments have confirmed the rapidly growing importance of performance features for consumers of luxury clothing. As consumers expect more from their luxury items, such demands are being met through a range of innovations, and the crossover between style and technical benefits is becoming increasingly important. This issue of Twist illustrates how performance features are becoming integrated into an increasingly wide range of textiles. English suiting fabric company John Foster, featured on the front cover and pages 42-43, is using an increasingly diverse range of finishes, working closely with the innovative UK finisher WT Johnson to provide benefits such as water-resistant and anti-bacterial properties, as well as WT Johnson's 2D finish, a two-dimensional finish which creates a highly pressed, and exceptionally cool, clean and dry fabric.
