According to James Sugden, overall demand this year for Johnstons of Elgin products has been strong, albeit perhaps slightly down in volume from 2010, when due to the cold winter and low stocks at retail the company had an exceptionally busy run through the whole year. "Most of our business ultimately finds its way in to exports and happily, with the weakness of sterling, we are currently very competitive," says Sugden.
