Textile exports from the Catalan region of Spain grew by 11% in 2011 to hit a record €3.6 million, according to Cityc. These gains have been attributed to sales in emerging countries. Clothing exports rose by 15% to €2.1 billion, with yarns and textile fibres up 13% and sales of fabrics rising by 9%. Fibre sales were worth €34.8 million to Catalonia in 2011, with yarn exports hitting €342.8 million. The region's sales of fabrics reached €575.6 million last vear.
