In the current climate it is encouraging to hear that menswear is a growth area. The continuing heritage trend was still very much in evidence at Pitti Uomo in Italy, yet beneath this was the underlying importance of plaids and checks. Although the global economy is wobbling, consumers purchasing expensive, luxury items generally opt for brands with authenticity. This interest in heritage is associated with check and plaid designs, a strong trend since autumn/winter 2011/12, and one set to grow for spring/summer 2013.
