Why did I WTO choose Cape Town for this year's Congress? I think our Congress theme says it all: Wool. Passion. People. Wool comes first, clearly - so why Passion, why People? Passion and people are what South Africa is all about. It's a uniquely diverse country, made up of people from numerous ethnic backgrounds and the success story of the new democratic South Africa is how this diversity has been united. In terms of Passion, any country that has encountered South Africa on the sports field will know about the passion South Africans have. We felt this passion from the first time when we met with Cape Wools to plan this event and it is evident throughout the South African wool industry. When you talk to wool people about what they do their faces light up and it is through this kind of enthusiasm that we hope to connect with consumers and get them to feel a passion for wool too.
