Now in its 20th anniversary year, Intertextile Apparel Fabrics Spring Edition (March 3-5) made its debut in Shanghai, featuring 1,469 exhibitors from 23 countries. Speaking at the opening press conference, Xu Yingxin, executive vice president of CCPIT, described the continuing 'internationalisation of the show,' which incorporated overseas pavilions from India, Taiwan, Korea, Germany, Portugal and Pakistan. International participation was up 12%. The success of the 5th Milano Unica pavilion, home to over 124 exhibitors, was emphasised by an Italian delegation including the organisers of Milano Unica and members of the Milan Chamber of Commerce. Interest in this exclusive area is growing. Visitor numbers rose by 13.3% (3,400) from the show in Beijing in March 2013, to levels comparable with the larger Autumn Edition in October.
