A presentation on 'Cotton classification: a vehicle for standardisation of trading practices' has revealed that ambiguity about how accurately the quality of cotton lint is measured can erode the fibre's prices in the marketplace. Delivered at the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) 73rd Plenary Meeting, held in Thessaloniki, Greece on November 2-7, the presentation confirmed that the value of cotton is largely determined by its quality and that classification should be standardised through use of technology.
