In the last week of April polyester staple fibre prices were raised back to mid-April levels in China as upstream cost was up while downstream demand remained moderate. In Jiangsu and Zhejiang, offers were hiked and discussions for firm deals rested just below offers. Trading prices were similar to offers, indicating a low discount. The sale/ production ratio was modest, ranging from 30-200%. Offers for 1.4D direct-melt PSF were lifted to 6.85-6.95 yuan a kg (US$1.06-1.07 a kg, up US cents 2-3) in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, while the same in Fujian and Shandong were up US cents 1-2 at US$1.06-1.08 a kg. In Taiwan, offers for 1.4D were lowered by US cents 5 to US$1.10 a kg FOB.
