This 30-footer, says its designer, places more emphasis on performance than on accommodation, distinguishing it from typical cruising boats. The wide, flat hull is intended to plane, and stability will be provided by both the hull's form and by an 800-lb swing keel—and by the judicious positioning of the crew. The keel can be raised with a block-and-tackle.The plans show two rigs: a cutter and a fractional ketch; the designer prefers the latter. It employs two off-the-shelf Hobie Cat rigs, the forward one having swept-back spreaders added, and the after one having two panels removed from the foot of its sail. A 10-hp outboard motor provides auxiliary propulsion.
