Longitudinal Center of Buoyancy (LGB) is the fore-and-aft position of the geometric center of the underwater volume of the hull (see illustrations, opposite page). It is usually expressed as a percentage of the DWL from its forward end. There are optimal positions for the LCB depending on the designer's desired performance for a boat.
