Since the peak days of the Grand Banks cod fishery, the old wharves and buildings of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, have mostly been alive with all manner of nautical industry. Salt, rust, money, and tar have abounded. But recent history found the old port challenged and the working waterfront in peril. After lying moribund for several years, however, the place is alive again and there's almost always something interesting going on-including a few schooner-construction projects that have invigorated the present while honoring the past.
