Wood & Wood Products has been asking presidential candidates to address wood industry issues since 1980, when we submitted questions to the Democratic President, Jimmy Carter, his Republican challenger, Ronald Reagan and independent, John Anderson. Among the topics that year were: wood as an alternative energy source, affordable housing and fair trade. Not surprisingly, housing and trade are still hot topics in the woodworking world. And with the current escalation of oil prices, "wood as fuel" could become a retro issue this winter.
