Durability of preservative-treated plywoods produced by pressure-, veneer- or glue-line treatment was evaluated using powder-post beetles and termites. In the results of the assess with Lyctus adults beetles to plywoods made of mizunara (Quercus crispula) sapwood, no damage was observed including oviposition and feeding damage. In the case tested with larvae of the beetle, there was no emergence of a new adult beetle nor a larvae bite through adhesive layers in tested samples except that an adult escaped through a clack of a treated sample. The termite laboratory test showed the preservative-treated plywoods made of both sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) and meranti (Shorea spp.) satisfied the performance requirement of the JIS K 1571. All preservative-treated plywoods also satisfied the performance requirement of the JIS K 1571 in the outdoor stake test against termites.
