Telcel to launch Mexican fixed-wireless LTE service

Mexico's leading mobile operator Telcel (America Movil) is set to launch a fixed-wireless broadband service for residential users using its 4G network, reports Xataka Mexico, citing unnamed sources and documents available on the website of communications watchdog IFT. The "Internet en Casa" service follows similar fixed-wireless offers rolled out earlier this year by AT&T, Blue Telecomm (Televisa) and Movistar (Telefonica), allowing existing Telcel subscribers to simply plug in a router to access unlimited home internet. Two plans will be available offering speeds of 5Mbps and 10Mbps for MXN 199 and MXN 349 a month respectively. The broadband data will be unlimited but a fair use policy of 100GB and 150GB maximum usage a month will apply, after which speeds will be substantially reduced, added the report.
