The Department of Justice wants more latitude for wiretaps and other investigative tools in response to terrorism attacks on the country. Despite this law enforcement need, the Federal Communications Commission last week decided to give U.S. wireless carriers and other telecom service providers more time to comply with wiretap regulations adopted in 1999.
