The nightmare appears to be over. Boeing's revolutionary and much-delayed 787 Dreamliner finally entered scheduled ser vice on Nov. 1 with launch customer All Nippon Airways (ANA). What this means is that Boeing's most recent update to Air Canada last March might just stick and the Montreal-based airline could take delivery of its first four 787s in late 2013 or early 2014, a further delay of between five and seven months from the previous schedule. Air Canada was originally supposed to begin taking delivery of its 787s in 2010. The 787 is critical to Air Canada's global growth strategy as it opens up routes too thin for the larger 777, but out of range of the 767-Air Canada has ordered 37 787s.
