Business jet deliveries improved in the second quarter of this year, but still fell 4.1 per cent worldwide versus the same period last year. This according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), a Washington-based international trade association, representing more than 80 of the world's leading manufacturers of general aviation aircraft, engines and components. In total, general aviation shipment numbers slipped 9.1 per cent to 1,015 units for the first half of the year, including a 13 unit drop in business jet deliveries to 305 airplanes. Canada's Bombardier blames current economic conditions and geopolitical issues in some regions such as China, Latin America and Russia for an industry-wide decline in order intake. Bombardier has already announced a reduction in the production rate for its Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft in response.
