Supporting the Naval Sustainment System for Aviation

The Navy's Fleet Readiness Centers (FRCs), with locations in the U.S. and in Japan, conduct maintenance, repair, and overhaul of U.S. Navy aircraft, engines, components and support equipment. Each year, roughly 6,500 Sailors and Marines, along with more than 9,500 Depot Artisans at the FRCs, overhaul and repair nearly 1,000 aircraft, thousands of engines and several hundred thousand components valued at approximately $4 billion. Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) works with other Naval Aviation Enterprise stakeholders, including NAVAIR Program Managers, logistics and engineering competencies and commercial partners to deliver "Best Value" in support of Warflghter requirements. COMFRC's mission to support effective and efficient flightline readiness through a globally managed, responsive and integrated sustainment system is unwavering. One effort that is transforming both readiness and sustainment is the Naval Sustainment System for Aviation (NSS-A). Our FRCs have experienced substantial improvements in workspace layouts, turnaround times for maintenance, unfilled customer orders and deliberate planning for future activities. We are now scaling these efforts across all type/model/series aircraft with a focus on cost to ensure more effective buying power for the Naval Aviation Enterprise.
