Paterson in, Spelman out

North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson has replaced Caroline Spelman as Environment Secretary in Prime Minister David Cameron's new Cabinet. Paterson comes to the job from the position of Northern Ireland Secretary. In opposition he was Conservative agriculture spokesperson, then Shadow Minister for Roads. Mr Paterson is not known for his sympathy for green issues, and has campaigned against wind farms in his constituency in the past, describing wind farms as "clearly a massive waste of consumers' money" and backing nuclear power as an alternative.
