Writing Good Test Questions

In a wilderness first aid or first responder course, the best way to test students' skills is to put them through simulated accidents that come as close to reality as possible. However, if we tested all of their skills (both mental and mechanical) in this way, the test would be as long as the course. So we usually need to give written as well as practical exams in order to evaluate student learning.
